Summer
Retreat - Kentucky Mountain Bible College, KY
June 17-23, 2007
There is no way I could really describe what all God did at Shadrach
camp last week. I had hoped to type up daily reports, but
there just didn't seem to be the time. So I will have to go
by my notes, and memory to share about it. | | |
Kentucky
Mountain Bible College |
Wednesday morning one of the staff from Kentucky Mountain Bible College
gave devotions, and it was tremendous. Then after lunch
almost all the kids and staff went to Natural Bridge. It is about
a half-hour away. It is such a beautiful place.
Most of the youth went up on top of the Bridge and sang some songs up
there. Then they came down and went through a small cave.
I went through the cave too, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was
such an enjoyable afternoon.
Then we all went to a beautiful cabin that Don helped build for the
college about 2 or 3 years ago. We had a wiener roast there, and then
all gathered into the living room for the evening service.
The singing there was so special. Then Robert continued his
message on the "Authority of the Believer." God really
helped him to have the messages for the week. He preached 3 times
I believe.
On Thursday the boys and girls separated and each went to a different
place for the day. The girls went to another natural bridge for a
picnic. They were encouraged to bring some old clothing so
they could play in the water. What a time they had, climbing on
this bridge, wading in the water, and then sliding down a waterfall on
a curved type rock.
During that time I went back to the place we had had our picnic, and it
was a mess... all our lunch bags and things we had brought along were
there. Just as I got there here came a park ranger walking
down the trail. I right away assured him that we would be
cleaning up our mess. He told me he could hear the squeals
of delight as the girls were sliding down the rock, and occasionally
they would burst into a song together, etc. He said, "It
made my day." Then just before we returned back to the
college, all the girls gathered around for a time of sharing about what
the Lord had done for them. Esther shared some thoughts with them
too. It was such a special time for all of
them. Several testified later that they had overcome some
fears and phobias they had had all their life. One girl said it
was the best day of her life. God had helped her overcome
several things out in the wilderness.
That evening Pastor Nicky preached a tremendous sermon on "False
Hope." He took the message from Ephesians 4-6. There were
many testimonies following the message. Different ones were
prayed for. The high light of that part of the service was when
Jacob testified. At the beginning of the message Jacob had it on
his heart to leave the service and go to his room and pray for Pastor
Nicky while he preached, so he did. His one request was "Make me
a hydrogen bomb for Jesus." |
Pastor Nicky was thrilled that Jake had gone out to pray, because he
had prayed earlier that God would give him an "armor
bearer." Different ones began to gather around Jake and
pray for him, like Esther, Reimar, Mikah weeping while praying for him,
and Logan, who is one of Karin's foster boys. Then Don
anointed him for God's service. It was a special
time. |
