Part
of the responsibility of being a Shadrach youth is being accountable
to others by regularly reporting how they are doing in the spiritual
disciplines. Below are some reports on servanthood,
witnessing
or the reading of spiritual classics. May their sharing
inspire
you to carry on in your walk of faithfulness!

Spring Weekender - April 2007
This
past weekend we were blessed with the anointing and power of God
being wrought in our midst while we were in WV.
Friday night was hit
off with a meal and then a wonderful service. There was the Truck
Quartet, the Bailey family, and some others who gave specials. After
that, Rev. Carl Rouintree gave a stirring message on how we need to
be on fire with God.
One point I got from it was that if you are on
fire with God, it won’t be hard to witness. If our love for Jesus
burns, then we will find it a relief to let out some praise about
Him.
Saturday morning my Uncle Robert Morey led P&P (Praise &
Prayer). After breakfast we watched a video clip on evangelization –
what a witness the man that was told about was. He witnessed on
average to ten people a day, asking them a couple questions and
giving them a tract. The fruit that has come out of that is amazing.
Once the video was over we went into boys’ and girls’ meetings.
These are a special aspect of the Shadrach Retreats that us youth
look forward to.
We ate an early lunch, then set out on a bus (thanks
to Donald Treadway) to a 100-acre plot of land in the hills. What a
wonderful place! The view was spectacular, and we youth did a
treasure hunt there. It was very enjoyable and we all appreciate the
hard work put into it.
That evening, Pastor Nicky spoke on being a
disciple. It was a wonderful message and came in a time of need. Some
youth stood up and testified during the service about how they were
disciples of Christ. It was a great service.
Sunday morning Dad led
in Praise & Prayer, focusing on the songs "Oh Lord, You’re Beautiful" and
"Praise the Name of Jesus" ("Praise Your Name Lord Jesus"). During the
morning service, Pastor Robert talked about what is left once we have
forsaken all: the one right to become a child of God. He also touched
on what all is in that – it’s a lot!!
Praise the Lord for His
work in my heart, breaking me and making me more like Him. He really
blessed us this past weekend!

Shadrach Retreat - 2005-2006
The 2005-2006 Shadrach Retreat was
great.
The sermon on throwing away the reverse gear, by Reimar
Schultze
was one of my favorites. I also enjoyed the soccer!
The
prayer times were also good. The thing that impacted me the
most
was what Reimar said "I threw away the reverse gear and it's been
rusting in the canal for 36 years!" What he was talking about
was
deciding to follow God and making the decision
to never, ever turn
back. The decision of doing evil wasn't even an option.
Praise God for helping me write this,
God
bless!

Intoxicated With Babylon
by Steve Gallagher
Steve Gallagher wrote Intoxicated
With Babylon because he realized that in his own life TV and
movies had too much influence, and when he stopped them, he was able to
be much freer and closer to God. The people he is trying to reach are
the Christians that are involved in normal American life and do not
realize how Satan uses entertainment and advertising to deceive us and
put ideas in our heads that certain things are OK, when really they are
things that Christians should not think about. The author talked a lot
about the end of the world and the Prostitute of Babylon that is
profiled in the Book of Revelation, and he explained that the Spirit of
Kosmos permeates everything. I found this book to be very informative,
and it opened my eyes to a lot of things I didn't realize.
Pilgrim's Progress

Book Report for Shadrach Assignment 2006-2007
Praise
the Lord! It was one of the greatest blessings to do Shadrach book
reports. Pilgrim’s progress helped me to see as a
true Christ follower, we would have to endure many trials with
patience, faith, obedience, love, trust, and imitation before we could
go to our heavenly home. I experienced what Christian experienced when
the burden rolled off his back. The guilt’s gone,
and He replaced my heart with promises, true joyous, and peace by
God’s mercy and grace. He took my hands and wanted
me to be His own when I was heading to hell. I tasted His
goodness, and my soul longs to be only His forever.
Christian
left his family, and he faithfully marching toward the Zion and he did
not turn back (it was because Jesus lifted Christian’s
burden, and he experienced the freedom). God also fulfilled
the promises which He never lies. “Believe in the
Lord Jesus, and you shall be saved, you and your household.”
Act 16:31. I finished one of the chapters one night, I knelt
and fell my face on the ground with deep shame and sorrow because for
the first time I saw why my Dad hated when I mentioned about Jesus. I
was a hypocrite.
Since
I was little girl, I thought I was a Christian. I went to a
youth group from time to time. Bible was boring to me, and I
did not know how the Bible really works. My motive went to
the youth group was not after the genuine spiritual milk. I
kept going back because I felt the love from other members.
One time right before I left my home, Dad wondered where I was
going. I told him plainly I was going to the youth
group. His face turned cloudy. “What good
is it to go to church when you don’t clean the house? (I did
clean the house when I felt like cleaning it. It was not
consistent, and I did not do it to glorify God. ” He said
firmly, “You may not go.” I stared at him
for second, and left the house anyway.
A
wretched I was and still am as Paul says, “In me (that
is, in my flesh dwelleth no good thing Romans
7:18). What a true statement! Even my Dad who
worships gods knows Christian should have good behaviors. Yet
at that time I called myself a Christian I had defiled God’s
wonderful name. I really do not deserve to be called a child of
God. He is so merciful! I suddenly could really see
how ugly of my true nature for the very first time in that stormy night
after I read the book Samuel Morris. (I
am still thankful for the blessing assignment.) Praise His worthy
name! Only the Holy Spirit can help me. The book of
Pilgrim’s Progress showed me the walk. What a
blessing to read all the wisdom and knowledge the Interpreter has
revealed. God is so good. He teaches. He
is so real. Praise Him! Praise Him!
Praise Him!
The
best way to love my household is to deny myself, take up my cross
daily, and follow Jesus because God keeps His promises.
Christian’s household was saved because of his obedience
walk. I used to be confused what the Scripture means when
Jesus says in Luke 14:26. However, the Holy Spirit led me to
this book called My Answer
by Billy Graham. “The demand is not that we hate
people, but rather that our love for Christ be so much higher and
deeper and broader than the love we have for our dearest ones on earth
that we would in any situation make all others second to Him.
It is a word defining contrast. Our love for Him should be so
unqualified that any other love, by contrast, would almost seem like
hatred. You will notice that Jesus even included denial of
self. People usually are lovers of themselves above other
persons, but there is something so wonderful and so exclusive about our
love for Christ that self must be denied.”
Oh! My Dear God,
please help me to yield 100% to the Holy Spirit, and let His perfect
will be done. “We are more than conquerors
through Him who loved us.” Romans
8:37. May our Lord fill all our cups afresh with the Holy
Spirit. In Jesus Precious Name I pray, Amen!
In the
book
To Train Up a Child it talked about many different
issues such as the following:
1-Do not
raise your voice or get angry when reprimanding your children. That way
they will do what you say in the future without you needing to get
angry.
2-A
baby
is given self-centeredness because his parents need to know what he
needs, but when he is older he needs to not be the center of attention.

One Saturday, my church had a yard,
bake, and hot-dog sale. On the same day was a free car wash that my
youth group put on. We washed cars for about five hours, and the people
who wanted their cars washed were coming steadily for most of the time.
We had two "car-washing stations" going at the same time; we were all
working hard and fast (we didn't want to make anyone wait.) Even though
the car wash was free, people gave donations to The Learning Center. We
were doing the car wash to serve people. I enjoyed working with my
friends and driving the cars to where we were washing them.

Recently got a job at a orchard picking apples. I was talking a to one
of the other pickers and he told me that he had lied to the boss and so
I asked him if he had any feeling of shame for what he did and he said
no. So then I while later we were talking and he said he hated his dad.
So I new I couldn;t stay in my cocoon any longer, I told him that in
the bible it said we were to honor your Father and your Mother and I
also told him that I was trying to obey what ever God told me. And then
asked him not to talk bad about his parents to me any more.
